Developers can now get watchOS 9 RC after seven betas. Apple revealed three new Apple Watch models and its forthcoming operating system today.
20R361 is RC. Beta testers can use watchOS 9’s features before everyone else.
watchOS 9 will modify previous Watch Faces and add four new ones after dropping support for Apple Watch Series 3. Apple’s new faces seem better on larger screens. The Apple Watch Series 7 and Series 8 will have QWERTY keyboard support for more languages, and watchOS 9 will include QuickType.
watchOS 9 RC also updates the Workout app with several additional features. Runners can swivel the Digital Crown to check Workout Views metrics while running:
- Activity rings
- Heart Rate Zones
- Power
- Elevation
Apple’s watchOS 9 beta also improves the Sleep app. New sleep data and a Medications app let you track medicines and supplements.
WatchOS 9 updates fitness tracking functions. The new OS adds heart rate zones and elevation data and customizes how you view information. Apple’s subscription-based workout software, Fitness Plus, has additional rowing, cycling, and treadmill data.
Outside of a bunch of new numbers to look at while you sweat, watchOS 9 has several wellness-centric improvements. You can add drugs to your schedule by scanning their prescription labels. The sleep tracking tool compares respiratory and cardiac rates.
The watchOS 9 upgrade adds more customising options, including solid and gradient backgrounds for watchfaces. Additional aesthetic options refresh old watchfaces. Apple added lunar watchfaces. Portraits finally supports pets.
