Motorola’s August 2 launch event for the moto Razr 2022 and X30 Pro was abruptly cancelled.
This caught us all off guard, especially since no reason for the cancellation was given.
In fact, we’re still not sure what happened, though some speculate that the cancellation was related to tensions between China and Taiwan over US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit.
Whatever the case may be, the event is back on and will most likely take place on August 11, 2022.
Chen Jin, GM of Lenovo Mobile China, teased the Razr 2022 with an analogue clock on its outer display on Weibo.
The clock displays “Thursday 11” in Chinese at 2 p.m. CST.
Both the X30 Pro and the Razr 2022 are expected to be presented at this rescheduled event.
Motorola’s launch event may have been cancelled due to rising tensions between China and Taiwan after Nancy Pelosi’s visit. However, Motorola has not officially stated why the original event was cancelled. If we’ve read this Weibo post correctly, the company’s event will take place just a day after Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event (on August 10), where the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will be unveiled.
Motorola’s new phones will be introduced in China first, although they may come to the US later. Customers in China may currently book the Moto Razr 2022 and X30 Pro.
