Telegram is a secure messaging tool. Despite offering free services to all users since 2013, Telegram launched a subscription layer, Telegram Premium, a few months ago. This week, the app developer published Telegram version 9.0 with new capabilities for Premium users.
Developers say the new 9.0 version offers an unlimited stream of bespoke emoji for Premium customers. Infinite Reactions has also redesigned the reaction panel to accept emoji. This upgrade gives non-paying users access to “dozens” of Premium replies.
Premium subscribers can add three emoji reactions to any communication. Individual and group conversations can use custom reactions, but group managers can turn them on or off.
Telegram Premium subscribers can also utilize Emoji Statuses to convey their mood. Adding a custom emoji status replaces the Premium badge other users see in a user’s profile, group chats, and chat list. Moreover, seven typical default statuses change colour based on your Telegram theme. According to the company, users can also utilize custom emoji for their status. Users will receive status suggestions to indicate when they’re at work, travelling, sleeping, etc.
More reactions were introduced for non-Premium users.
Premium users can now set standard or creative emojis as profile statuses. Emoji Statuses can be timed out. Tap and hold your Premium badge to establish an Emoji Status.
Each user now has a username.t.me link. Telegram groups and channels use the new link format. It’s not that different from t.me/username, however entering the slash symbol may be awkward for some.
These upgrades are Android or iPhone-specific. Android.
Android downloads can now be prioritized. You can now reorder active downloads (iOS already had this feature).
However, Instagram opens and closes with new Android UI animations. Telegram’s icon now works with Android 13’s theming engine.
