Samsung Galaxy S21, S22, and Note 20 get September 2022 security upgrade globally

Samsung Galaxy

Samsung has improved its software updates in recent months, releasing One UI 4.1.1 for the Galaxy S22 series and beta testing One UI 5. September arrived without any security upgrades for Galaxy phones, which is unusual. Samsung’s September security update is already rolling out, starting with the Galaxy S21.

The September security update targets 24 vulnerabilities, 21 of which are high priority. A hole that allowed hackers to remotely contact 911 has been fixed, although none of the changes are important. Firmware version G99xBXXS5CVHI resolves SystemUI privileges and inappropriate authorization in the Photo Editor and Video Editor apps.

This OTA update has been noticed in Germany and Europe and will go out globally. You can manually check for it in Settings > Software update > Download and install on a compatible device, but you should receive a message when it’s available. We’ll update this site with new Samsung phones and tablets.
