Poco has offered fantastic value-for-money smartphones in the past, notably the Poco F4 and Poco X3 Pro. Xiaomi’s low-end Poco M series is returning with a new phone.
The Xiaomi-affiliated Poco M4 has a unique rear design. Expect a blue, yellow, or black matte polycarbonate back and a black polycarbonate camera window. Otherwise, the front has a flat panel, waterdrop notch, and chin.
What about Features
Xiaomi’s Poco introduced the Poco M4 Pro 5G last November with the Dimensity 810 SoC. Today, the company announced a cheaper variant with the Dimensity 700 processor.
The Poco M4 5G available in 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB RAM variants. It contains a microSD slot for expansion up to 512GB.
The Dimensity 700 smartphone boasts a 6.58″ 90Hz FullHD+ LCD with a notch for the 8MP selfie camera. The display may cycle between 30Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz depending on the content.
Poco M4 5G’s rear panel features a “Hypnotic Swirl Design” with 50MP primary and 2MP depth cameras. Poco M4 5G features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C, and IP52 rating. 5,000 mAh battery supports 18W and 5W reverse wired charging. The included adaptor is 22.5W.
Price and availability
Poco has not yet announced pricing and availability, but a Flipkart listing shows a Rs 10,999 ($138) promotional price in India. Normal price is Rs 15,999 ($201). The phone will be 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB.
Poco M3’s 6,000mAh battery, outstanding build quality, and stereo speakers made it a good deal at the time. The Poco M4 sacrifices battery capacity for a 5G SoC and fast refresh rate, so it’s hardly a clear-cut upgrade. If you need a cheap phone, consider this one.
