Oppo Reno 8 Pro is great in design but it’s super expensive

Reno 8 series

Oppo debuted the Reno 8 series in India this month, providing sleek designs, powerful Dimensity silicon, and quick wired charging. Oppo finally brought the phones to Europe today.

Both phones have smooth sides and are slim for mid-range handsets. The Reno 8 Pro’s back is glass, whereas the normal device’s is plastic.

Specs and Features

The Reno 8 Pro has a powerful Mediatek Dimensity 8100-Max chipset and FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen. Reno 8 has a mid-range Dimensity 1300 chipset and 6.43-inch 90Hz OLED (FHD+) screen.

Both phones have 4,500mAh batteries and 80W charging. Both phones have a 50MP IMX766 main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro sensor, and a 32MP IMX709 selfie camera. Pro delivers 4K HDR and 4K night video.

Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, IP54 rating, and Color OS 12.1 on Android 12 are also shared.

The Reno 8 Lite also came to Europe. This smartphone ditches Mediatek SoCs for a Snapdragon 695 chipset. It has a 6.43-inch FHD+ 60Hz OLED screen, 64MP+8MP+2MP triple back cameras, 16MP front camera, and 4,500mAh battery with 33W wired charging.

The Reno 8 Lite has Color OS 12 on Android 11, not Android 12. Android 13 is already out, so that’s sad.

Design and appearance

Reno 8 series will be released in Europe on September 1. Reno 8 Pro costs £599 in the UK and €799.90 in Europe. The Reno 8 costs £419 in the UK and €599.90 in Europe. Oppo Reno 8 Lite costs £319 ($371).

Reno 8 Pro review: strong and good-looking. The phone’s expensive price in India and budget-tier secondary cameras disappointed us. We believed the update promise was average and that the price should include water resistance.

European and UK pricing is also high compared to rivals. European and UK shoppers should consider the Pixel 6, Samsung Galaxy A53, or Poco F4.
