Next OnePlus flagship could arrive early, will include Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

OnePlus flagship

This year, OnePlus has put out two flagship phones with Snapdragon 8-series chips. In January2021, the business debuted the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G in China. The OnePlus flagship phone with the SM8550 chip will come out by the end of 2022, according to a new leak from a reliable source, Digital Chat Station, as reported by TechGoing.

The SM8550 chip is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform, which is what the tipster is talking about. It is expected to come out in November of this year. There are a lot of rumours that the SD8G2 will be a 4nm chip with a 1+2+2+3 architecture instead of 1+3+4. That was used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipsets.

Digital chat station posted on Weibo regarding a new OnePlus gadget. Although using Qualcomm’s November Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SM8550 SoC, he says the existing Gen 1 chips are the SM8450 and SM8475. Moreover by using the latest Snapdragon flagship CPU, this may be a OnePlus 11 series handset – maybe the OnePlus 11 Pro.

This year will be the release of new model. Qualcomm has scheduled its annual Snapdragon Summit for mid-November and should be the debut of the Gen 2 series. Anticipation of Xiaomi to introduce a phone utilizing Qualcomm’s latest top chip early this month.

OnePlus will be among the first, though December is possible. This could disprove earlier speculations that Apple won’t introduce another flagship this year. Depends on the announcement and sales schedule. The OnePlus 10 Pro released in China in January, thus the 11 Pro may come a few weeks late.

The tipster believes it’s due “around the end of the year,” or a month after Qualcomm’s chip news. That’s fast for a phone with this chipset to develop, but considering we saw 8+ Gen 1 hints the same day, an announcement may come before retail availability. We don’t know much about this phone, but maybe leaks and rumours will fill in the gaps.
