New cool rugged Acer Chromebook Prototype uses recycled plastic.

Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is the first ChromeOS device in its eco-conscious Vero range. Acer’s Vero range is eco-friendly. Vero goods use recyclable materials and recycled packaging. The line debuted in 2021 to reduce waste and environmental effect.

Vero laptops, monitors, projectors, all-in-ones, mouse and keyboard are Windows-powered. Not just Acer uses recycled materials. Many electronics manufacturers use recycled materials in their products and packaging. Others have introduced schemes to help people repair their smartphones.

Chromebook Vero 514 uses post-consumer recycled (PCR) components. Plastic chassis, screen bezel, keycaps, and speakers. Its fan housing and touchpad employ recycled ocean-bound plastic. Even the laptop’s box uses recycled materials and dyes.

Besides being eco-friendly, this is a standard Chromebook 514. High-end Chromebook features include the newest Intel processors, Wi-Fi 6E, up to 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage.

Price and Availability

In October 2022, Best Buy will sell the Acer Chromebook Vero 514. November in EMEA.

The CBV514-1H-38VS will land first. It has a 14-inch IPS display, Intel Core i3, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. When it launches, it’ll cost $499/€599.

Acer’s Chrome is easy to upgrade

Acer’s latest Chromebook boasts a 14-inch anti-glare Gorilla Glass touchscreen display. The screen is 300 nits bright and 100% sRGB. The Acer Chromebook Vero 413 features a prominent chin despite its low bezels and 88% screen-to-body ratio. The forehead has a “full HD flare-reducing webcam” for high-quality video calls, along with DTS audio and a smart amplifier. Chromebook displays are 98% recyclable.

The Acer Chromebook Vero 413 has an Intel 12th Gen processor (up to Core i7), 16GB LPDDR4x RAM, and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Acer’s bottom cover employs conventional screws for RAM and storage upgrades. Chromebook owners may not require a USB hub because it has enough ports. Two USB-C ports, a full-sized USB-A port, HDMI 2.0, and audio jack. WiFi 6E, a backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint scanner are options for the Acer Chromebook Vero 413.
