Motorola unveiled the Moto Razr 2022 in China. The Lenovo-owned brand also launched the Moto X30 Pro, a flagship smartphone with a 200MP primary camera, 125W wired fast charging, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC. The same phone leaked in recent months is now available in China.
Release Date
11 August 2022, Motorola unveiled the X30 Pro in Taiwan. Motorola mysteriously postponed the original 2 August launch date with no explanation. The phone is official, but the company hasn’t announced a release date, even in China.
Without a Chinese release date, it’s unclear when or if the Motorola X30 Pro will come to the West. We’re confident the X30 Pro will be released outside of China soon; we’ll update this section when we learn more.
Price
The Motorola X30 Pro is priced very competitively – in China at least – starting at 3,699 Yuan (around $549) for an 8GB+128GB combo, much cheaper than 2022 flagships from Samsung, Oppo, and co. Chinese pricing:
- Motorola X30 Pro (8GB/128GB): $549.
- X30 Pro (12GB/256GB): 4,199 ($623)\
- Motorola X30 Pro (12GB/512GB): $668.
While US and UK availability isn’t confirmed, don’t expect a straight price conversion from China.
We expect it to replace the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, which costs £649/$699. We’ll update this section once we know more.
New Features
Motorola X30 Pro has a 6.7in pOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and 1250nits peak brightness. The screen’s Full HD+ resolution is plenty for its size, and the phone has a fingerprint scanner.
Samsung recently announced the ISOCELL HP1 sensor. The 1/1.22in sensor and 200Mp resolution use 16-in-1 pixel binning to improve detail. Chameleon Cell technology lets you use two-by-two, four-by-four, or full-pixel layouts depending on the shot.
The sensor has 0.64m pixels and Double Super PD auto-focus, according to Samsung. Motorola added OIS to keep things smooth, day or night. It has a 50Mp ultrawide lens, a 12Mp 2x telephoto lens, and a 60Mp selfie camera.
Motorola X30 Pro’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC puts it in flagship territory. Depending on the variant, you can add up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola’s vapour chamber and copper blocks help dissipate heat when playing AAA mobile games.
4,500mAh battery supports 125W fast charging. Motorola’s fast charging technology can charge a phone 50% in 7 minutes and fully in 19 minutes. Wireless 50W fast charging is also available.
