Google’s CEO get himself involed in real leaks

Google CEO Sundar Pichai was the main speaker on the first day of the Code 2022 conference on Tuesday. When host Kara Swisher asked him questions, he didn’t say much, but it looks like he was wearing the Google Pixel Watch, which is coming out on Oct. 6.

Pichai discussed a lot about Google’s greater business but didn’t talk about any devices we’re expecting to be announced soon, like the Pixel 7 smartphone. But Bloomberg’s Apple reporter Mark Gurman was the first to notice that photos of Pichai showed he was wearing a smartwatch that looked very different from other ones.

Over the 50-minute chat, more of the Pixel Watch became exposed. From a side aspect, it looks fairly thick, especially the bottom stainless steel dome. One leak says it’s above 14 mm (and with an over 40 mm diameter).

The crown and side button were not visible from far away. Google’s October 6 hardware launch will feature the Pixel Watch and Pixel 7.

Google’s CEO was photographed wearing the Pixel Watch during Vox Media’s 2022 Code Conference. As Pichai’s hands moved, the watch became more visible.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, famed for Apple leaks, documented it in screenshots. Pichai didn’t mention the device on his wrist, and the screenshots don’t provide us much more information than the press images, but it’s interesting to see him tease the device ahead of the big event.

Pichai spoke at length on Google’s rivals. He talked about how TikTok’s rise in recent years surprised the organisation. He stated, “Too much competition is a mistake, in my opinion. Big firms collapse within.”
