With the first Pixel Watch, Google has already laid the groundwork for its move into the smartwatch market. Now that the Pixel watch price has been leaked, it’s easy to see how it compares to the competition.
“9to5Google first reported on the Pixel Watch price of the cellular model being $399.99 in late August. Thanks to a retail source, we were able to further corroborate that price, as well as now being able to confirm the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model price, which will start at $349.99.”
Google has two big rivals in the smartwatch market, and the price of the Pixel Watch puts it between them.
This pricing is higher than comparable premium smartwatches, such the Galaxy Watch 5 series. While the Watch 5 Active costs over $400, the 44mm Watch 5 starts at $310. The 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 costs $280. This pricing is similar to Apple’s latest wearables, showing Google considers the Pixel Watch a premium Android device. We’ll need a unit to confirm.
We also know the three colour variations Google will offer at launch, but don’t expect an unique lineup like its Pixel phones. Black, Silver, and Gold Wi-Fi/GPS Pixel Watches will have Obsidian, Chalk, and Hazel straps. Obsidian is black, therefore the default watch will be black-on-black, whereas Chalk is white. The LTE-capable Watch comes in identical hues, save for the Silver model’s Charcoal band (also known as gray).
Google aims to provide more proprietary bands to spice things up. The Pixel Watch launches on October 6th, so there’s still time for leaks.
