Galaxy Tab S8 gets Android 12L (One UI 4.1.1) with improved multitasking

Galaxy Tab S8 is the first tablet to run Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1. (via Sammobile). So yet, only South Korea and Europe have the update, but more countries will get it soon.

One UI 4.1.1 is developed on Android 12L for larger screens. The Lenovo P12 Pro tablet received the update first, followed by Samsung and Microsoft.

Android 12L introduces a two-column layout and a taskbar for better multitasking. You may open split-screen mode by dragging programmes from the taskbar. Two-finger gesture lets you switch between split-screen and full-screen mode.

The Android 12L update adds the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s Taskbar. It stays at the bottom and provides faster app navigation and multitasking. The taskbar instantly opens apps in split-screen or pop-up mode. It can pin and open frequently-used app pairs.

Two-finger gesture switches between fullscreen and split-screen. Using an app’s handle, a floating window or split screen can open. New software supports Edge Panel app names.

With One UI 4.1.1, Galaxy Tab S8 can extract text from images, share it with any app, or translate it. Supported languages include Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Also, visual text-based actions are recommended.

Samsung allows customers select distinct caller backgrounds for each contact. Google Meet now includes Google Duo, so users can have 1:1 or group video chats. Samsung Keyboard supports more emojis, stickers, and kaomoji.

My Files can now search files. The programme will find a phone number even if it’s in an image or document. Filter and sort search results files.

In Samsung Internet, you may rearrange preferred sites by dragging and dropping. Folders organise bookmarks. Users can edit a collection of lock screen backgrounds and change their selection after choosing one.

Samsung confirmed to 9to5Google that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will get Android 12L features, including the taskbar. It could be One UI 4.1.1 or Android 13/One UI 5.0.

Android 12L upgrades will likely be added to the Galaxy Tab S7 series and other foldables.
