Android Police’s Mobile Photography Week is over, but Samsung’s software improvements keep us enthused about cameras. Software-enabled photo smarts and social media app integration trickle down to previous Galaxy phones with each new model launch. Detail Enhancer, a Galaxy S22-exclusive photography function, may not make it to Galaxy S21 models, and that’s not all negative.
A moderator for the Samsung Korea Community told SamMobile that an upcoming software update will make the camera on the Galaxy S21 better. But the phone’s Neural Processing Unit isn’t fast enough to match the Galaxy S22‘s camera performance when using the AI-based Detail Enhancer feature.
The moderator says that Samsung will try again, but she can’t say for sure that the feature will be on the S21. In our review of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, we said that it was the best camera phone we’d ever used. It had great detail reproduction, a 10x zoom, and just-right image processing. So, even if you don’t have the Detail Enhancer, you still have a great camera phone.
Galaxy S21 will include Snapchat, Soon
Samsung’s Community moderator verified that Snapchat integration will go live “soon” for Galaxy S21 customers, while there’s no official launch date. Samsung has tested Snapchat integration with recent SDK versions, and it looks to work.
The Galaxy S22 introduced native camera features to Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok. It lets social media users take high-quality photographs from third-party apps without using Samsung’s Camera app.
Samsung will likely integrate the Galaxy S21’s camera with other social media apps, but we’ll have to wait for confirmation. Stay tuned.
