Chromecast with Google TV could launch soon with full-HD streaming.

A cheaper version of Chromecast with Google TV is reportedly coming shortly. The next Chromecast with Google TV may be a standalone streaming device like the present one, but with lower streaming capabilities and no HDR compatibility. The report claims the device might cost roughly €40. (approximately Rs. 3,200).

German website WinFuture reports that several European merchants have received the new tablet. This means the debut could be near, possibly before the October 6 Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch event.

The rumour says it will be a full-HD streaming device (1920×1080 pixels) with no HDR capability. In India, where many still use full-HD or lower-resolution TVs, such a device could be popular.

The gadget will have the same Google TV user interface on top of Android TV as the Chromecast with Google TV.

The 1080p streaming stick could be called “Chromecast HD with Google TV.” The gadget may be powered by the AMlogic S805X2 chipset, which supports AV1 decoding, and have 2GB RAM. Wi-Fi over 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands will be enough for streaming 1080p content. AV1 decoding is uncommon in inexpensive streaming sticks.

The low-end hardware should not cause performance issues like those of Chromecast with Google TV. Google just updated its 4K streaming stick to enhance CPU and RAM utilisation. A new process frees up storage as needed. These adjustments should also be made for the affordable Chromecast.
