We see foldable phones all the time, but there aren’t many foldable laptops out there yet. Asus wants this to change by introducing Zenbook 17 Fold. At IFA 2022, the company showed off the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, a new laptop that you can fold up.
The Zenbook 17 Fold was shown off at CES 2022 and seems to be another device that wants to cash in on the foldable form factor trend. But Asus makes a strong case for its existence by saying that the laptop is the best way to balance being mobile and getting work done.
The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702) will be available in Q4 2022 for $3499. Intel Evo-certified Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has a 17.3-inch 2.5K touchscreen that folds in the middle to produce two 12.5-inch 1920 by 1280 displays.
ASUS’ 180° hinge can survive 30,000 open-and-close cycles. Full-size ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad allow for many modes. Including the keyboard, the device weights 1.8 kg.
Quad-speaker Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos sound system and Dolby Vision display with 100% DCI-P3 gamut and PANTONE Validation offer superb audio-visual experience. It also has a 5 MP AI webcam with ASUS 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) technology for improved video calls and user-presence detection using an HD IR camera.
ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1250U, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB RAM, and a 1 TB PCIe SSD. The 75 Wh battery is decent.
Price and availability
Now, let’s talk about cost and availability. The Tech Black version of the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will be available in Q4 for €3,999/$3,499. That’s more than the price of two brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4s.
